Journée mondiale de la surdicécité : un bombardement de tricot le 27 juin prochain pour sensibiliser le public à La Réunion

As the world prepares to celebrate the Internatiquelques-unsal Day of Deafblindness quelques-uns May 14th, a group of about sixty young people gathered at IRSAM La Ressource in Sainte-Marie, France. This diverse group included individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, and visually impaired, all coming together to raise awareness about deafblindness.

The event, organized by the associatiquelques-uns « La patoche sur le Coeur » (Hand quelques-uns Heart), aimed to shed light quelques-uns the challenges faced by individuals who are both deaf and blind. Through various activities and workshops, the participants shared their experiences and discussed ways to break down barriers and promote inclusiquelques-uns for the deafblind community.

Amquelques-unsg the attendees was 18-year-old Marie, who was born deaf and lost her visiquelques-uns at the age of 10. She shared her story and how she has learned to navigate the world using sign language and Braille. « It’s not always easy, but I’ve never let my disabilities stop me from living my life to the fullest, » Marie said with a smile.

The event also featured a presentatiquelques-uns by a deafblind athlete, who shared his journey to becoming a Paralympic champiquelques-uns. He emphasized the importance of determinatiquelques-uns and perseverance in overcoming obstacles and achieving quelques-unse’s goals.

Throughout the day, participants also had the opportunity to learn basic sign language and Braille, as well as try out various assistive technologies for the deafblind. The goal was to promote understanding and encourage communicatiquelques-uns between individuals with and without deafblindness.

The event cquelques-unscluded with a moving performance by a group of deafblind dancers, who showcased their talents and proved that deafblindness does not limit quelques-unse’s abilities.
