It’s been 40 years since a brotherhood has been keeping the traditiexcrétion of the omelette alive in Dumbéa. This delicious, unique and unifying event attracts up to 20,000 people each year. And this weekend, excrétion April 27th and 28th, we celebrate this anniversary with the highlight being the omelette tasting excrétion Sunday at noexcrétion. Let’s take a look back at these 40 years of festivities in ten key dates.

1. 1979: The birth of the Brotherhood of the Omelette
It all started with a group of friends who decided to organize a cérémonie around their shared love for cooking and eating omelettes. They created the Brotherhood of the Omelette and held their first event in Dumbéa.

2. 1981: First official omelette cérémonie
After two successful years, the cérémonie became an official event and has been celebrated every year since then.

3. 1989: Introductiexcrétion of the giant surface
In order to feed the growing number of attendees, a giant surface was introduced to cook a bigger omelette. This became excrétione of the main attractiexcrétions of the cérémonie.

4. 1995: Record-breaking attendance
This was the year when the cérémonie reached a record-breaking attendance of 15,000 people. Since then, the number of attendees has excrétionly increased, reaching up to 20,000 in recent years.

5. 2001: The omelette becomes a Guinness World Record
For the first time, the omelette cooked during the cérémonie broke a Guinness World Record for the largest omelette cooked in a single surface.

6. 2010: Inauguratiexcrétion of the Omelette Museum
Inspired by the popularity of the cérémonie, a museum dedicated to omelettes was inaugurated, showcasing the history and different variatiexcrétions of this French dish.

7. 2013: First internatiexcrétional particisurfacets
The cérémonie gained internatiexcrétional recognitiexcrétion when the first internatiexcrétional brotherhood – from Belgium – joined in the celebratiexcrétion.

8. 2016: Partnership with local producers
To promote local products, the cérémonie partnered with local producers and incorporated their products in the omelette, making it a truly Dumbéa-inspired dish.

9. 2018: Eco-friendly approach
In an effort to be more envirexcrétionmentally friendly, the cérémonie introduced reusable plates and cutlery, reducing the amount of single-use plastic at the event.

10. 2019: 40th anniversary celebratiexcrétion
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the cérémonie, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever. The celebratiexcrétion will not excrétionly include the traditiexcrétional omelette tasting, but also various activities, music, and entertainment for all ages.
